Global Video Conferencing Standardisation and Executive Suite Upgrade

Man Group, the world’s largest hedge fund, sought to significantly reduce travel costs and its environmental impact through a strategic investment in video conferencing technologies. Their objective was to develop a standardised room design and installation blueprint that could be deployed consistently across their UK and European offices.

Visual Synergy engineered a streamlined, scalable solution centred around Tandberg HD video conferencing systems. The design included:

  • High-definition display screens
  • Matrix switchers for flexible input management
  • Ceiling-recessed microphones
  • Desk-mounted touchscreen control interfaces

This setup provided a robust and user-friendly communication environment adaptable to various meeting needs.

Additionally, Visual Synergy led the refurbishment of Man Group’s principal client-facing presentation suite. The redesign encompassed lighting upgrades, refreshed colour schemes, and improved room layouts. The suite featured:

  • Three fully equipped boardrooms
  • Three smaller video-enabled meeting rooms
  • A trio of partitioned meeting spaces that could be combined to accommodate up to 120 participants

A central technical challenge involved the distribution of audio and video signals across the three partitioned rooms, both when used separately and when configured as a single large space.

To address this, Visual Synergy developed a multipurpose display system. The screens functioned as individual displays for standalone rooms and as repeater monitors when the partitions were opened, ensuring seamless scalability and versatility.

Other key features included:

  • Three HD video cameras for comprehensive coverage
  • Multiple PC and content-sharing sources
  • Integrated microphone array: ceiling recessed, fixed lectern, wireless handheld, and lapel mics
  • Centralised environmental control via two 12” touch panels
  • Full HD widescreen projector with a ceiling-recessed electric screen
  • Recording capabilities for all video conferencing sessions

Executive Boardroom Transformation

Visual Synergy also redesigned the executive boardroom, a flagship space used by senior leadership and a priority within the project scope. The upgraded system included:

  • Widescreen rear projection HD display
  • HD video conferencing with dual cameras and dual screens
  • Ceiling-integrated speakers and microphones
  • Wireless 8.5” touchscreen control panel
  • The installation was delivered on schedule and to exceptional standards, receiving highly positive feedback from stakeholders.

 

Following the success of this initiative, Man Group engaged Visual Synergy in additional strategic projects, including:

  • Global User Interface Standardisation: A complete redesign of touch panel interfaces to ensure consistency and ease of use across international offices. This involved gathering and integrating user feedback from teams in the UK, USA, Australia, and the Far East.
  • Quality Audits: Visual Synergy was invited to evaluate installations by other vendors, ensuring adherence to the high standards established during the initial project.
  • Pan-European Installations: Building on trust and proven delivery, Visual Synergy executed installations across Ireland, Guernsey, Holland, Switzerland, and Italy.
